Brief description:
This work will conduct a complete re-analysis of the Savannah Harbor Expansion Project economics as directed in the Project Guidance Memorandum. Information from the Feasibility Study and that developed in cooperation with the Economic Working Group will be evaluated and incorporated as appropriate. Economic conclusions will be reevaluated based on the updated data and analyses.
Current status:
The Economic Working Group has reviewed the Feasibility Study economic analysis.
Its recommendations have been passed to the Savannah District for
inclusion
in the analysis. The Savannah District has contracted the economic
analysis work to Gulf Engineers & Consultants (GEC). The scope of
work and work plan have been coordinated with the Economic
Working Group as details are developed. The report of the first two
elements of the Vessel Fleet Forecasts (World Fleet-Existing and World
Fleet-Prospective)was delivered in June 2004.
The final report of the Vessel Fleet Forecast has been posted for information. The reports of the first two elements of the Commodity Projections (World Trade Forecasts and U.S. Trade Forecasts) have been posted. They are available via the Economic Analysis Reports page (see the link below).
The Multiport Analysis by GEC is in progress. The
Regional Port
Analysis by GEC is in progress.
In addition, the USACE economists are conducting reviews and updates
to account for operational changes that have taken place since the GEC
work in order to reach conclusions based on more recent data.
